Medium bio
Tarias and the Sound is a living, collaborative music project led by Minnesotan fusion blues artist Tony Omodt-Lopez. When you’re here, you’re part of it. At its core, TARIAS is about presence — capturing real moments through songwriting, improvisation, and connection. Each performance is shaped not just by the songs, but by The Sound: a rotating ensemble of some of Minnesota’s most exciting up-and-coming musicians. No two shows are the same; the lineup changes, the energy shifts, and the music responds in real time to the room and the audience. “The Sound is the moment,” Omodt-Lopez explains. “It’s the musicians who join me and the immediate reaction we have with the audience at any given time.” Rooted in blues, jazz, and rock ’n’ roll, Tarias and the Sound expands fluidly into R&B and funk, creating performances that feel both grounded and exploratory. Whether stripped down or fully electric, the project thrives on spontaneity, musicianship, and the shared experience between band and crowd — inviting listeners not just to watch, but to take part. Since launching the project in 2020, Omodt-Lopez has released multiple albums and singles, earning praise for his soulful voice, intricate guitar work, and dynamic live performances. Tarias and the Sound has become a staple of the Minnesota music scene, known for its authenticity, energy, and the unique connection it fosters with audiences.
